Support Worker – Purelife care services (Part-time)

We are recruiting hardworking, committed, flexible, and resilient individuals to join our team as Support Workers.

The role of a Support Worker is extremely diverse, where no two days are the same. You will work closely with young people, building positive and professional relationships whilst encouraging independence and preparing them for adulthood, with safeguarding always being your highest priority.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: £12.71 Per hours, £50 – £70 ( Sleep in)

Location: Birmingham, England

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To provide support within a professional, positive, and homely environment that promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion, meeting the individual needs of young people.
  • To lone work within designated homes in accordance with lone working policies and training.
  • To establish positive relationships with young people, assessing needs and contributing towards support plans.
  • To support young people individually and within groups to develop confidence, life skills, independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviours.
  • To organise and participate in activities and engagement opportunities.
  • To complete household duties including cleaning, gardening, shopping, and maintaining a welcoming environment.
  • To support young people in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic living environment by encouraging and promoting independence with household tasks, whilst undertaking occasional cleaning duties within the placement where required.
  • To complete accurate recordings, observations, reports, and documentation to a professional standard.
  • To communicate effectively with professionals, agencies, families, and education providers.
  • To manage petty cash and purchasing responsibilities in line with company procedures.
  • To act as a positive corporate parent whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
  • To complete key working sessions in a timely and meaningful manner.
  • To ensure all shift responsibilities are completed to a high standard including: Daily observations, Logbook entries, Running records, Weekly planners, Fire safety checks, Health & safety checks ,Attending appointments with young people
  • To support the smooth running of the home during both day and night duties.
  • During night/sleep-in duties, staff are expected to maintain the safety and wellbeing of the home, respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, or young person needs, and complete any required night checks and recordings.
  • To respond immediately to any safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • To attend meetings, training, court proceedings, child protection conferences, and other professional meetings where required.
  • To complete mandatory training within required timeframes.
  • To work flexibly in line with the needs of the service.

Responsibilities of All Staff

  • To act as an ambassador for Purelife Care Services, promoting our values, ethos, and professional standards.
  • To maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • To adhere to Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role as directed by management.

Ideally You Will Have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be working towards it
  • Minimum 1 year experience working within residential care or supported accommodation
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge and experience
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)
  • Experience key working with Looked After Children
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Understanding of:
  • Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
  • Criminal Exploitation & County Lines
  • Missing from Home procedures (MISPER)
  • Substance misuse and therapeutic intervention
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively
  • Full UK Driving Licence (desirable)
