Crisis Support Worker – Springfield Hospital (Visa Sponsorship)

We are excited to be recruiting Crisis Support Workers (Band 4) to join our Enhanced Home Treatment Team (Night Function). This is a new and innovative service model designed to provide safe, responsive, and compassionate care overnight to people experiencing a mental health crisis in the community.

Salary: £33,094 – £36,195 per annum inclusive of Inner London HCAs

Roles & Responsibilities 

You will:

  • Provide direct care and support to service users in mental health crisis during the night.
  • Support registered practitioners in delivering assessments, interventions, and care planning.
  • Carry out home visits, welfare checks, and practical support alongside qualified staff.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and the monitoring of mental state, wellbeing, and safety.
  • Engage with families and carers to provide reassurance, advice and signposting.
  • Document care clearly and promptly on electronic systems (e.g., RIO).
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Crisis Pathway, Liaison Psychiatry, Emergency Services, and community teams.

Person specification

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria

  • An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology Or extensive experience as a Band 3 Health Care Assistant with level 3 NVQ in Health Care related subject
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent); relevant NVQ Level 3 or willingness to complete

Desirable criteria

  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Experience of relevant paid work
  • Work with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of paid or honorary/unpaid work in direct care provision
  • Previous experience of clinical research/audit in the NHS
  • Experience of using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with clients with mental health problems
  • Experience of motivational interviewing techniques
  • Experience of facilitating groups with clients with mental health problems.
