Roles & Responsibilities
To provide technical and specialist IT support within the Public Health Wales Desktop and Devices team, focusing on hardware deployment, escalated calls and ensuring seamless functionality for end-users. Take a proactive role in developing and optimising desktop infrastructure, documentation, and systems to meet organisational requirements, including taking lead responsibility for relevant deployment projects. Collaborate with wider IT teams to support their initiatives, with a particular focus on enhancing desktop deployment processes and outcomes. Eligibility Requirements
- oGood knowledge of a range of common computer hardware (particularly PCs and printers).
- oExtensive knowledge of Windows client and server operating systems, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and ethernet networking.
- oSolid theoretical knowledge of Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, Exchange and Microsoft Office.
- oData backup and restore processes. .
- oData protection legislation
- oConcepts of virtualisation.
Desirable
- oTheoretical knowledge on how to minimise IT security threats and manage IT security incidents. Experience of budget preparation, and IT procurement.
- oKnowledge equivalent to the level of a professional IT qualification such as a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) ideally gained from relevant experience.
- oKnowledge of ITIL processes and PRINCE2 methodologies.
- oVMWare ESX server infrastructure.
- oGood knowledge of Microsoft SCCM, WSUS, SQL Server.
