Day Concierge – YMCA Wellington and District (Part-time)

As a Day Concierge, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and wellbeing of young adults in our supported housing service and of all our buildings over the weekend. You’ll help create a calm, stable environment and ensure any incidents are managed appropriately. No two days are the same, and your support will make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable young people.

Salary: £12.60 an hour

Location: Wellington, UK

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Moving between sites, monitoring the safety and security of our buildings at weekends
  • Remaining alert to identify and deal with any risks or concerns promptly
  • Responding quickly and calmly to incidents or emergencies
  • Building positive, professional relationships with customers
  • Maintaining accurate records and logging any incidents
  • Completing administrative and maintenance tasks as needed

Eligibility Requirements:

Our ideal Day Concierge

  • Is confident overseeing site safety and following health and safety procedures
  • Can manage or de-escalate anti-social behaviour, in a confident and fair way when necessary
  • Is comfortable with lone working
  • Has a positive attitude and genuine desire to make a difference to the young adults in our service
  • Is calm, confident, and able to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrates inclusivity, respect, and a commitment to equality and diversity
  • Has experience in security work, supported housing or a similar setting (desirable but not essential)

Other Requirements

  • This role requires an enhanced DBS check paid for by YMCA Wellington
  • This role requires the post holder to have a full UK driving licence and own transport to move between sites quickly
  • Flexibility to cover additional shifts may be required, and we’ll always aim to give as much notice as possible.
