We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team at Blooms Kitchen, based within Ellie’s Hill Foot Garden Centre, Ulverston. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and have a keen interest in food and beverage operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant environment, supporting daily café activities, food preparation, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is advantageous, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately, ensuring a positive dining experience
- Serve food and beverages in accordance with health and safety standards
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, maintaining cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen area
- Maintain cleanliness of the café environment, including tables, counters, and seating areas
- Handle cash transactions and operate POS systems efficiently
- Restock supplies and ensure the café is well-presented at all times
- Support barista duties, including making coffee and other hot beverages with attention to detail
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain hygiene standards throughout all duties
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing enquiries promptly and professionally
Eligibility Requirements:
- Previous experience in catering, serving, or hospitality is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards is advantageous
- Experience as a barista or in food preparation is a plus
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
- Ability to work well within a team and independently when required
- Flexibility to work during peak hours, including weekends if necessary
- Full driving licence is preferred for occasional stock collection
