We are looking for an Assistant Psychologists for the Croydon CAMHS Keeping in Touch Team who offer a mental health service to children and adolescents with moderate to severe mental health disorders and/or ADHD.

Main duties of the job
- To assist practitioner psychologists in the delivery of a specialist assessments and interventions. Working collaboratively to assess the needs of the service users, planning, implementing and evaluating the care given in the Croydon treatment team
- To provide clinical work as required by the service, under the direct guidance, close clinical and professional supervision, of a practitioner psychologist. This may involve co-facilitation of psychoeducation and therapeutic groups.
- To assist in clinically related administration, e.g. assessment/discharge reports, conduct audits, collect statistics, develop audit and/or research projects.
- To work following clinical guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, while closely supervised and regularly seeking help from clinical/professional supervisor or manager.

Qualifications
Essential
- A First-class or Upper-second-class Bachelors degree with Honours in Psychology that is accredited by the British Psychological Society and confers the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society.
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in related areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
Experience
Essential
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
- Experience of paid or voluntary work within a Mental health setting
- Experience of paid or voluntary work with children with mental health problems
- An ability to develop a therapeutic relationship.
- Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities. This may have been gained through work, research, volunteering and / or lived experience
Desirable
- Experience of improving patient experience of the clinical environment
- Experience of working with individuals with a neurodevelopmental disorder.
Skills
Essential
- Graduate level knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis.
- Good theoretical knowledge of the problems experienced by children and adolescents with mental health conditions and with neurodevelopmental conditions and of methods of assessment and treatment. Awareness of racial and diversity issues through attendance of relevant training. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex, sensitive or contentious information to clients, families and colleagues.
- Consultation skills to work with the multi-professional team or other professional groups within own service.
- Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning and holding team roles. Ability to identify and follow relevant clinical governance procedures.
- Ability to maintain concentration and to remain in restricted positions for long periods during observations, assessments and psychological interventions.

- Skilled in the communication of sensitive issues.
