Assistant Psychologist – King’s College Hospital (Visa Sponsorship).

A unique opportunity is now available to work as an assistant psychologist in a well-established multi-disciplinary brain injury team.

The team has a good record in supporting the development of prospective clinical psychologists.

The post holder will have supervision from a clinical psychologist, but will also have the opportunity to work closely with the specialist nurses, family psychotherapist and other members of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder’s work will be in the domains of:

  • Helping to manage the patient pathway
  • Working clinically with patients and their families
  • Assisting with service improvement

They will have opportunities to:

  • Perform neuropsychological assessments
  • Offer individual treatments under supervision
  • Collect, analyse and report data for audit, service evaluation and research.
  • Collect and evaluate clinical screening and outcome measures.
  • To perform family systemic assessments in the acute and out-patient setting
  • To work with challenging behaviour

Person Specification

Shortlisting

Essential

  • At least a 2:1 (Hons) in Psychology [ or a Master’s degree in Applied Psychology or a further period of academic study at a commensurate level]
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
  • Graduate level knowledge of psychological research methodology and statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of psychological assessment and clinical neuropsychology
  • An ability to interact with people with neurological impairment and disabilities
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to effective team functioning.
  • An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people who have suffered acquired brain injuries
  • Postgraduate clinical experience working as an assistant psychologist using standard neuropsychological tests
  • Knowledge of family systemic theory and practice
  • Experience of support working with patients and families
  • A desire to explore a career in clinical psychology
  • Experience of software packages for databases or data-analysis.
