Assistant Psychologist – Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust (Visa Sponsorship).

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our Community Forensic Team. Our service works with individuals across the community pathway, including people transitioning from secure hospitals. Many of the people we support have a history of, or are at risk of, behaviours that have brought them into contact with the criminal justice system. This makes for a varied, meaningful role with rich learning opportunities for those interested in forensic and community mental health.

Salary: 27,485 – 30,162 £ / Year

Main duties of the job

The main duties will involve:

  • Support the delivery of evidence-based psychological care under the supervision of a Principal Forensic Psychologist.
  • Assist in completing psychological assessments, gathering clinical information, and contributing to formulations.
  • Support the delivery of low-intensity interventions within the Community Forensic Team.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and the development of safety-focused care plans.
  • Assist with clinically related audits, service evaluation, data collection, and the production of reports to support service improvement.
  • Help embed psychologically informed practice across the multidisciplinary team by sharing observations, contributing to discussions, and supporting reflective work.
  • Communicate sensitively with service users, carers, and partner agencies, often around complex or emotive information.
  • Organise and prioritise your own workload, balancing clinical activity, supervision, and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records, adhere to confidentiality and data protection standards, and uphold Trust policies and professional codes of conduct.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Degree level qualification in Psychology
  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion

Desirable

  • Evidence of current CPD/ or equivalent knowledge/learning.
  • Additional qualifications or course attendance in a related field
  • Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area

Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate knowledge/experience of working or placements within identified clinical area

Desirable

  • Evidence/ knowledge of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation.

Skills

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate effective inter-personal/communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity

Desirable

  • Awareness of leadership/management skills and qualities
  • Working knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
