Deafblind UK is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in Peterborough on a 16-hour contract. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with complex needs by providing personalised, high-quality care and support.
As a Support Worker, you’ll be at the heart of someone’s day, helping them to live as independently and comfortably as possible. Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea, offering a listening ear, or supporting with personal care, your presence will mean the world to the people you support.
Job Title: Support Worker
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £13.00 per hour
Location: Peterborough, United Kingdom
What the role involves
As a Support Worker, you’ll be there to assist individuals with their daily routines and tasks, helping them live as independently and comfortably as possible. This includes supporting with personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as meal preparation to ensure nutritional needs are met. You’ll also help with administering medication safely and in accordance with health guidelines. For individuals with more complex needs, you will monitor health conditions including PEG feeding – don’t worry if you haven’t done this before, as full training will be provided.
Your role goes far beyond physical care – you’ll be a source of companionship and emotional support, offering a friendly face and a listening ear. Building trusting relationships is key, and you’ll help create a positive, uplifting atmosphere that makes a real difference to someone’s day. Whether it’s sharing a conversation, helping with a hobby, or simply being there, your presence will be valued and appreciated.
You’ll follow personalised care plans tailored to each individual’s needs and routines, making sure the care you provide is thoughtful and consistent. Keeping accurate records of care and any changes in a person’s condition is an important part of the role, as is working closely with healthcare professionals, family members, and colleagues to ensure a joined-up, holistic approach to care. Your support will help ensure the people we care for live with dignity, choice, and as much independence as possible.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for care and a kind, patient nature. Previous experience in a care or support role is ideal, but not essential – what matters most is your attitude, empathy, and willingness to learn.
An understanding of assisted living and dementia care would be helpful, but we provide training and support to help you grow in the role. You’ll need to be a good communicator, both in writing and face-to-face, and able to stay organised while managing different responsibilities throughout the day.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who sees the person behind the condition – who wants to make someone’s life better, even in the smallest ways.
A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role, as you’ll be working across the local area.
Why join Deafblind UK?
At Deafblind UK, you’ll be part of a close-knit and supportive team who genuinely care – about the people we support and each other. You’ll receive full training, opportunities to grow and develop, and the chance to make a real impact every single day.
If you’re ready to start a rewarding new chapter and help others live life on their own terms, we’d love to hear from you.
