The Role
The Vehicle Technician will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and preparing vehicles prior to sale. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced dealership environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct full diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles.
- Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) to ensure vehicles meet dealership quality standards.
- Identify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
- Repair or replace faulty components including brakes, suspension, engines, and electrical systems.
- Complete routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filters, and fluid checks.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety, MOT, and manufacturer standards.
- Maintain accurate repair records and job sheets.
- Work closely with sales and management teams to prioritise vehicle preparation.
- Advise on parts requirements and order replacements when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of diagnostics, repair procedures, and vehicle systems.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
- Experience using modern diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Full UK or international equivalent driving licence.
- Fluency in English (Skilled Worker visa applicants must meet UKVI language standards).
Desirable
- MOT Tester qualification (Class 4 & 7).
- Experience with hybrid or electric vehicles.
- Experience working in a busy used car dealership workshop.
