We are seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Psychologist to become an integral part of our friendly and expanding team within the Psychological Services department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to our neuropsychology services, delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychological support to individuals coping with a variety of neurological conditions, including acquired brain injuries and brain tumours.

Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to high-quality patient care within our neuropsychology services, administering cognitive tests and offering psychological support under the supervision of a clinical neuropsychologist . The post holder will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in research and audit activities, and adhere to Trust and departmental policies while staying updated on service and professional standards.
There will be opportunities for delivering training to other staff as guided by their supervisor, ensuring compliance with record-keeping guidelines, and engaging in service-related research under supervision. Additionally, they will work within the code of ethics and professional practice guidelines, keeping abreast of developments in clinical psychology.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) 2:1 or above in Psychology
- Graduate membership of the BPS
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within a clinical setting alongside psychological therapists or other mental health professionals (with example and expansion provided in application)
- Experience of carrying out psychometric testing under supervision
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with patients with long-term health conditions (with example and expansion provided in application)
- Experience of working with behaviours that can present challenges to services (with example and expansion provided in application)
- Experience of using CBT informed ideas for individual based therapy (with example and expansion provided in application)
- Knowledge of risk assessment processes
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills in communication, teaching/presenting, managing challenging behaviour and clinical assessment
- Experience of working within team environments (with example and expansion provided in application)
Desirable criteria
- Specialised training / knowledge in management of challenging behavior.
- Experience of planning and co-facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Research experience
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and implications for clinical practice. (with example and expansion provided in application)
Special Attributes

- Ability to manage own work timetable
- Ability to manage stress generated by work and work environment and to reflect on these processes (with example and expansion provided in application)
- Well motivated with respect to developing clinical and academic skills, with evidence of continued professional development.
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings, with evidence of competency in the use of Microsoft office; Powerpoint and Excel.
Desirable criteria
- Relevant additional training, E.g. managing stress at work; clinical supervision
- Experience of working within a stressful environment with challenging patients
- Holds IT qualification, such as ECDL
- Experience of using electronic patient databases i.e Lorenzo (with example and expansion provided in application)

- Enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological phenomena and interest in models of service delivery, with the ability to articulate the value added by clinical psychology services within the context of the multi-disciplinary teams.
