Assistant Head of Financial Accounting – Hywel Dda University Health Board. (Visa Sponsorship).

This is an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified CCAB/CIMA individual to join a core team within Finance, which is instrumental in the accuracy and integrity of the accounting ledger and the month end and year end accounts.

As the Assistant Head of Financial Accounting, you will be the lead point of contact for the Financial Accounting Team.

Location: Carmarthen, United Kingdom

Salary: £46,840 to £53,602 a year per annum

Roles & Responsibilities 

In summary, the main duties will be:

  • Prepare the financial accounting information required to deliver reporting to Welsh Government and Audit Wales
  • Responsible for the day-to-day cash management of the Health Board
  • Provide financial advice regarding the operations of the Health Board’s Charity
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Financial Accounting Team
  • Maintain and foster excellent professional relationships and strong lines of communication with internal departments and external partners, such as service providers and the external auditors.
  • Contribute to the positive culture, governance, and control environment of the team through maintaining high standards of working practices and leading the team by example whilst developing and implementing new continuous change improvements.

Eligibility Requirements 

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • CCAB or CIMA qualification
  • Experience at management level with proven professional and managerial experience and expertise.
  • Knowledge of integrated financial systems.

Desirable

  • Evidence of CPD
  • Knowledge of Oracle System Accounting

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing a team
  • Experience of delivering within challenging deadlines
  • Demonstrable track record of career advancement and achievement
  • Experience of managing change and associated behaviours
  • Experience of working with substantial data sets
  • Demonstrate specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and NHS policies

Desirable

  • Experience in process improvement project management
  • Previous financial experience in the NHS
  • Experience of working with charitable accounts

Other

Essential

  • Able to work flexible hours around key reporting milestones
  • Able to travel between sites and to All Wales meetings in a timely manner
  • Committed and self-motivated

Desirable

  • Welsh speaker (Level 1)
